🏛 A £17.5M Georgian Style Estate on 26.7 Acres with a Restored Kemp Landscape
Massey Hall, Thelwall, Warrington, Cheshire | £17,500,000
Massey Hall is a Georgian style house built of Derbyshire sandstone, designed by ADAM Architecture and completed in 2015. It offers seven bedroom suites, over 31,891 sq ft, set in 26.7 acres in Thelwall.

An earlier house was built on the site in the late 19th century for Peter Rylands, a manufacturer and politician, with the grounds laid out by Edward Kemp. Sir William Rylands left the property to Lancashire County Council in 1948 for educational use, and after the school closed in 2006 it fell into disrepair before the current owners bought it. In 2010 they commissioned ADAM Architecture to design the new house and Barnes Walker to restore the Kemp landscape.

Inside, an entrance hall with an imperial staircase leads to a drawing room, a dining room and a Clive Christian fitted study, and the family kitchen by Todd Hunter-Davies has a separate catering kitchen.

The property also includes a club lounge, and a cinema room.

Outstanding Feature: The leisure facilities. There is a gym, treatment rooms, a salon, a sauna, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi, all inside the house.

A secure gated entrance leads to a long drive through parkland. There is also an outdoor pool with an oak framed pool house with kitchen facilities and a sitting area, a tennis court and zinc roofed garaging, with a workshop, staff offices and two two bedroom staff flats in a former outbuilding.

🏰 A £1.15M Category A Listed Castle from 1580 on 11 Acres in Aberdeenshire
Lickleyhead Castle, Premnay, Insch, Aberdeenshire | £1,150,000
Lickleyhead Castle is a Category A listed castle on the lower slopes of Bennachie, with its oldest parts dating to 1580. It offers eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms and 5,554 sq ft, set in about 11 acres of garden grounds and natural woodland.

Additions in the 17th and 18th centuries gave the building its L shape, and original wood panelling, spiral staircases and stonework run through the house. The Great Hall has three generous windows, an open walk in fireplace, a butler's pantry and an adjoining library.

The panelled sitting room is centred on an original Adams fireplace, and the dining room has polished floorboards, twin windows and a striking fireplace. The dining kitchen has a cherry red oil fired AGA, a stone corner fireplace, granite worktops, a central island and a Belfast sink

The eight bedrooms include the Bartholf, Duff, Maitland and Forbes rooms and the Gallery Bedroom Suite with three porthole style windows and a plunge bath.

Outstanding Feature: The Laird's Suite. It has a fireplace, a private staircase and an en suite with a Japanese style bath and curved windows.

Outside, three acres are garden grounds and eight are natural woodland, with a walled garden, a rose garden, a former ice house, a sunken terrace and two burns running through the grounds. A separate three bedroom, two bathroom Gardeners Cottage across the burn is included in the sale, and Insch is about 4 miles away.
